At what age do ferrets start vaccinations?
And in case there's a not so knowledgeable ferret vet- what dosages and what ones should they be given?
We've ended up with two babies- they're eight weeks old- not quite what we were expecting, but we're happy to have them! We need advice on their shots etc.
They're eating well, a pair of piggies, loving their home- I'll have to get some pics- Stuart has done a wonderful job! Today they had a special airconditioner built for them! He's super clever with electrics, and rigged them up a great little aircon- so they've been sleeping in front of it most of the day (except when they woke to eat, and play wrestles- made a lot comfier in front of the aircon of course!)
I'm just gushing- they're adorable! _________________ Our friend Jam -who happened to be *rather* intoxicated...said: 'Your Yak Sneezed!'...talking about the ferret...henceforth ferrets in our family are nicknamed Yaks! |

First vaccination at 12 weeks.. you need the C3 vaccination - ferrets only need distemper but most vets don't stock distemper only vaccinations.
I recommend you see a vet listed by the ferret society... ferrets aren't common pets and you don't want a vet who doesn't know what dosage to use as you want a vet who can do a health check on your kits and advise you on any health issues. |

Well we'll have to join the NSW ferret society, because we've decided to move to NSW to be with family. So we're out of here this coming week it would seem!
Thanks for the advice Canni.
I have some things I'd like to donate to the VFS, so I'll be contacting someone to get a postal address for them.
You've all been wonderful- thankyou! We'll be back periodically to say hey and find out how all your little ones are doing of course! _________________ Our friend Jam -who happened to be *rather* intoxicated...said: 'Your Yak Sneezed!'...talking about the ferret...henceforth ferrets in our family are nicknamed Yaks! |
