Well the time we got to spend at the meeting was great- we ended up really quite late!
But we still got to meet some ferrets and their lovely owners- and I must say- I am completely smitten!
The lovely Andrew is going to help us find the perfect little fuzzies for us, and Jan was very generous in driving us to a destination a little closer to home!
All in all- I was so thrilled, and enjoyed the time we spent smooching and playing with the ferrets very very much- it just solidified for me that they're the perfect pet for us! So we're all ready, I've been making hammocks and cups for them to sleep in, and we're working on getting a travel enclosure so that we can take them out- vet trips/meetings etc.
I just think they're adorable! _________________ Our friend Jam -who happened to be *rather* intoxicated...said: 'Your Yak Sneezed!'...talking about the ferret...henceforth ferrets in our family are nicknamed Yaks! |

| thats great, its the best way of getting a ferret really because they will match one up that is best suited to you, plus you get the added bonus that they are desexed . |

Hey there, I started up here a few months ago and was ment to come along to meeting and wasn't able to make it!.
I'd like to come along to the next one, but I'm unsure when it is? could you please give a date for the next meet please.
I don't own a ferret yet but I have always found them interesting and loved cuddling the ones that my friends own.
Finally living on my own, I am happy to say that I am able to take care of one!.
I'd love a baby, but would be happy to look through a few of the ones in real need of homes too.

| the next meeting is the xmas party its the last get together for the year. Its the same venue but starts at 7pm. You would need to ring someone on the front vfs forum if you wanted to look at rescues as they are not always brought along to the meetings. |

I'm so upset we weren't there tonight- I got sick yesterday, and didn't want to infect the ferts - as it looks like its a cold.
I'm really upset- we really wanted to be there. I have some cool funky tunnels for them to play in too!
Apologies for not showing up- I just wasn't prepared to risk making everyone sick. _________________ Our friend Jam -who happened to be *rather* intoxicated...said: 'Your Yak Sneezed!'...talking about the ferret...henceforth ferrets in our family are nicknamed Yaks! |

I thought i new the basics about ferrets,i can see from the forum here i didnt know sh*t Both myself and my daughter are looking forward to the new year and a meeting in which we shall hopefully be able to attend so as to meet you all and gain much more needed knowledge, even thou the forum here itself has been a wealth of information its still good to be able to talk to other ferret lovers. Not many understand the love that these little fuzzies have to give, and their bad reputation follows them around When little Claus grows up we shall be taking him on short walks in which i am sure we will get weird looks and comments,to which i can say and prove that they are in fact quite lovely and yes comforting.
Hoping to meet you all in the new year. |

there is a wealth of information on ferrets, thankgoodness for the internet. I gather you have all the good info you need now anyway with your new addition being so young did anyone advise perhaps to sprinkle calcium powder on the meat , are you feeding high protein biscuits should be 32% protein or more on the packet, most supermarket brands dont meet this criteria but there are a couple, Optimum is one.
if you are going to have your new ferret outside in parks perhaps a canine distemper vaccine might be a good idea. For flea treatments you can use the one you put on the back of the neck revolution, i dont have fleas in my garden or on my dogs so ive not had to use it of late on my ferrets. |

It was mentioned about the food with many having corn in it,why they do that i dont know, the animals it is made for are not vegitarians lol. I have checked and he will be getting the meat based ones or protein. He will also be making a trip to the vets for injections as well as a microchip and when he is old enough the de-sexing also. Some rotten person stole my ferret i owned 9-10 years ago when i kept him outside as all knew i owned a very tame ferret,so i dont wish to take any chances with Claus. I was devastated after Freddy was taken for quite a while, and prevention is better.
I moved house just 3 weeks ago so have no flea problems as yet,but the seasons change, and i guess eventually so will that problem eventually so will make a note of that to use when that time occurs.
Thanks |
